Family Appreciation Week Kick-Off, 8:30 a.m. EST

Check your email inbox as we kick-off Family Appreciation Week. The email will also include a copy of the schedule for the week and Zoom links for all virtual engagement opportunities. Registered parents and families are free to join us as schedules permit.

Can you navigate game day on Rocky Top and make it into Neyland Stadium by kick-off? Connect with your student and complete the “Game Day Madness” Escape Game. Families who successfully escape will have a chance to win UT gear from the Vol Shop.

Service Project: KARM Every Bed, Every Day (EBED), All Day

Virtual Event

The Knoxville Area Rescue Ministry (KARM) would love for you and your family to create index-card-sized homemade cards for staff to place on each of KARM’s bed pillows. Their goal is for Every Bed Every Day (EBED) to have a card placed on it. These EBED cards could include a picture you’ve drawn, words of encouragement, etc. During these uncertain times, KARM believes these cards will deeply bless their guests who don’t usually receive mail from family or friends. With more than 300 beds, you cannot make too many cards.

Service Project: Smokey’s Closet Drop-off, 3–5 p.m. EST

Student Union

Smokey’s Closet, UT’s free, professional clothing closet provides clothing to students for internships, co-ops, and job interviews. Fill out this form to setup a donation drop-off time.

Virtual Family Fun Run 5K Event, Ends on Saturday, March 27

Virtual Event

Families are encouraged to get their steps in for our Virtual Family Fun Run! Choose your location and time of the day to run, walk, or jog the 5K (3.1 miles). Select our race event on the JustMove app and log your official time. Individuals or groups with the fastest time or with the most spirit will receive a prize!

Further details are included in your registration packet. Remember to follow social distancing guidelines as you take the opportunity to get out of the house and get moving with friends and family.


RecSports Killer CORE Fitness Class, 12:00-12:45 p.m. EST

Looking to get moving? Celebrate Wellness Wednesday with a RecSports Zoom Group Fitness Class! RecSports Instructors will teach you everything you need to know for Killer CORE. Students are welcome to join their families in this group fitness fun.

Zoom link and password will be provided the day of. 


Plant Parenting: Houseplants in Your Space, 12:30–1:30 p.m. EST

Virtual Event

Houseplants have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years but particularly in the past year. Many of us spent more time indoors and discovered we could enhance our homes with plants. Learn about how plants add not only beauty but provide better health and cleaner air to your environment. This workshop is in partnership with UT Gardens. 

To express our appreciation, we will be offering free potted plants for pick-up from the UT Gardens. These plants are limited to local pick-up only!

Plant pick-up registration has reached capacity and is now closed.


Dinner with the Deans, 6 p.m. EST

Join Dean Shea and guests as we celebrate the contributions of our Volunteer Families. The agenda includes personal tips on how you can help your student complete the semester, highlighting the recipients of the Parents & Families Association Academic Scholarship, and sharing submitted impact stories from families and students.

Big Orange Thank You!, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. EST

Student Union Plaza

Nothing says thank you like your student’s smile. This event will give students a chance to show you how much your love and support has impacted them and their success. 

Encourage your student to stop by the Student Union Plaza between 11am and 2pm and tell us how their family has impacted them! We’ll snap their picture and post it to social media throughout the day. Also, be sure to like us on Facebook so you can check out the photo album.


Food & Wine Tasting with Master Sommelier, Maximilian Kast , 6 p.m. EST

Wine Educator, Maximillian Kast, is one of the South’s top wine professionals and one of only 164 master sommeliers in the country. Max is the director of education for Broadbent Selections.

  • Registration + 1 charcuterie total: $33.00 for two people; if you would like additional food trays after registering for 1, they are available for $23.00 each.

Big Orange Friday is a UT tradition on campus, improving student morale by encouraging school spirit. We will be hosting a social media campaign all day so you can tag us on Facebook @UTKFamily, show off your school spirit, and wear orange while you participate in our virtual programming!

Power T Cookies, Giveaways, and Thank You postcards! Students can enter their families name for a chance to win a Volunteer Family Prize Pack. Students can also complete “Thank You” postcards to be mailed to loved ones. Postage will be covered by Family Engagement.


RecSports Zumba Fitness Classes, 12:00-1:00 p.m. EST
