Friday, September 16

Family Weekend Check-In
10 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Student Union 262

Check-in for Family Weekend begins on Friday morning. You can pick up your Family Weekend registration materials, favors, and tickets. To pick up Family Weekend bundles, you must bring your photo ID or event receipt(s). Please print these receipts after you have finished registering for the event. We can accept electronic receipts.

We encourage you to have your student pick up your Family Weekend Bundle in advance if you are unable to pick it up during this time frame.


Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express
7:30 p.m.
Clarence Brown Theatre

The Orient Express is hurtling down the tracks… to a murder! With a train full of suspects and an alibi for each one, it’s the perfect mystery for detective Hercule Poirot. For tickets and other information, please call (865) 974-5161 or visit the Clarence Brown Theatre website


Stargazing
8:45 p.m.
Nielsen Physics Building

Come enjoy the wonders of the night’s sky with Paul Lewis, Director of Space Science Outreach at UT. The stargazing event will give a unique glimpse into the stars using the Nielsen Physics Building’s powerful rooftop telescope. Registration required for this event. 

Saturday, September 17

Tennessee Family Tailgate (included in Family Weekend Tailgate Bundle)
Noon –  4:30 p.m.
Student Union Ballroom

Start your Vols game day with a delicious tailgate in the Student Union. We’ll have food, fun, and games for families and students to enjoy.

We are offering two seating options: Noon and 2:30 p.m.. Families must be registered for one of the seating options to attend.


Family Weekend Silent Auction

The Family Weekend Silent Auction is a great opportunity for you and your family to support the Parents & Families Endowment and win some unique items compiled and donated by local businesses. Auction item winners will be contacted shortly after the conclusion of the tailgate and will need to pay in full and pick up their items on Sunday morning.


Vol Walk
4:45 p.m.
Pedestrian Bridge

Take part in one of UT’s oldest gameday traditions; the Vol Walk. At this time, the football team makes a ceremonial walk to Neyland Stadium down Volunteer Boulevard and Peyton Manning Pass.


Vol Football vs. Akron
7p.m.
Neyland Stadium

Join more than 100,000 Big Orange fans in cheering the Vols on to victory as they take on the Akron Zips inside Neyland Stadium!

Please note that Neyland Stadium has a clear bag policy. All items are subject to search at the gates upon entering the stadium. Fans are allowed to bring the following items into the stadium: cushions/seats without arms, small cameras, pagers, cell phones, and binoculars. Bottles, cans, large cameras, coolers, and stadium chairs with arms are prohibited in Neyland Stadium. All persons, regardless of age, must have a ticket in order to gain admission into Neyland Stadium.

Collect your Family Weekend Silent Auction prize! Additional information will be shared with auction item winners.


Brunch at Rocky Top Dining
9:00 a.m. – noon
Rocky Top Dining Hall

See what it’s like to eat like a Vol with your student. Use this time to connect and visit with other families as we conclude a great Family Weekend! 

UT students who have a meal plan may use a meal swipe to enter the brunch and can use their guest meals to cover their family members and guests. Students who don’t have a meal plan may use their Flex Plan or Credit/Debit Card and pay at the door. Family members and guests who cannot utilize their student’s guest meals will need to purchase their meal ticket for brunch ahead of time.
